History of SWAIN

SWAIN was founded by Ian and Linda Swain in 1987. Ian a native Aussie with his American wife Linda could see a need for sound advice for Americans to visit Ian's homeland. So with Ian's knowledge of the South Pacific and Linda's American flair, SWAIN Australia Tours commenced in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where Linda was raised. During the next 10 years, with the help of some great Aussies and Kiwis filled with passion for their countries, SWAIN became the largest seller of South Pacific travel on the East Coast.

It was then Ian extended the destinations to include South East Asia and Southern and Eastern Africa. They found that their past clients enjoyed such exceptional experiences in the South Pacific that they were coming back to SWAIN for their next getaway, family vacation or adventure. Branching out into other destinations was a natural step, and the perfect solution to being able to continue creating unique travel experiences around the globe. Again utilizing local experts from those destinations, SWAIN became a force to Asian and African destinations and this SWAIN became the brand.

All along, Ian and Linda's vision was to create unique and interesting travel experiences customized to the individual client's needs and desires.

As Ian says, "We start with a blank canvas and create our clients dreams".

SWAIN is an extension of Ian and Linda's own family of six children and the office is run as such, with their close-knit team of specialists being an integral part of the company; some team members have been with SWAIN since 1991, almost since inception!
